This bibliography is a supplemental chapter to the AFSIC publication, Organic Livestock Production: A Bibliography: Selected citations from 1974-September 2004 (Special Reference Briefs Series no. SRB 2004-05, September 2004; available online at http://www.nal.usda.gov/afsic/AFSIC_pubs/srb0405.htm)

The cited works here focus specifically on organic and/or grass-based dairy and milk production from dairy cattle, goats, sheep and buffaloes (Asian water buffalo/Bubalus). The bibliography is divided into five parts: Animal Husbandry, Health and Welfare (citations 1-79); Veterinary Practice (citations 80-152); Environmental and Nutrient Management Issues (153-172); Economics and Marketing (citations 173-211); and Food Quality and Safety (citations 212-231).

Each citation includes subject keywords. An index to them, along with an index to authors, appears at the end of the bibliography. In research-oriented citations, the descriptor, “Author affiliation,” denotes the research institution country of the first author.
