Conservation Tactics to Help Fish and Wildlife Thrive Featured in New Bibliography
A new bibliography of publications about effects of conservation practices on dozens of different kinds of North American fish and wildlife is now available free of charge from the National Agricultural Library (NAL) in PDF and HTML formats.
"Hogget" Joins "Nekton"--and More--in New Glossary and Thesaurus of Agriculture (En Espanol)
Now "hogget" joins the legion of words like "quarg" (a soft, unripened fresh cheese) and "nekton" (actively-swimming aquatic organisms) included in the National Agricultural Library's (NAL) 2009 editions of its classic glossary and thesaurus of the specialized vocabularies of agriculture.

NAL Publishes New Editions of Agricultural Thesaurus, Glossary (En Espanol)
The USDA National Agricultural Library (NAL) has published 2008 editions of its NAL Agricultural Thesaurus (NALT) and Glossary of Agricultural Terms in both Spanish and English. The update is published collaboratively with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).

Two New CEAP Bibliographies Available Online

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has published two more in a series of current literature surveys covering agricultural conservation programs and the effectiveness of agricultural conservation practices.
The two new bibliographies, both available on the Web, were published by the National Agricultural Library (NAL), part of USDA's Agricultural Research Service (ARS).

Better Bean Information Available Online from NAL
The National Agricultural Library (NAL) has added the digitally reformatted annual reports and conference proceedings of the Bean Improvement Cooperative (BIC) to the information available online through the NAL Digital Repository. This addition includes significant information about the improvement of bean varieties, production and processing.
Information is Useful in Fighting Invasive Aliens
Invasive aliens seem to be everywhere: in the water, on the land, in the air; attacking our wildlife, natural areas, and agricultural lands. These aliens are invasive species--harmful non-native plants, animals, or microbes, transported here by boats, planes, and winds from their native lands. They are harmful in Maryland because they crowd out native plants and animals by grabbing space, light, and nutrients.

The National Agricultural Library (NAL) assessed user needs via an online survey that ran from April 18 through May 16, 2006. The needs assessment was designed to identify the library's current and potential customers; to determine those customers' information needs, sources, and behaviors; and to assess their view of NAL's existing and potential services.
