Books, booklets, clippings and letters, 1879-1912, relating to S[olomon]. Hoxie, and
Holstein-Friesian, or Dutch-Friesian, cattle. Mostly printed material, including articles by Hoxie,
with some manuscript notes. Some items in Dutch. Arranged chronologically.

resolved on the 23rd of May to offer Hoxie an Honorary Membership in their society, "which
distinction, we flatter ourselves, will be accepted by you." Also, certificate in Dutch, and

Loomis family. Diaries, 1880-1912, and n.d. 4 folders.
Typed transcript of diaries of the Loomis family of Ionia, Michigan; entries principally by
Arthur
Perkins Loomis, with some by his father, James Winship Loomis, or his wife, Carrie Sessions
Loomis. The diaries describe farming operations, social life, and local and state politics. The
transcription consists of approximately 450 typed pages, double spaced. Following the entries
for 1912 there is an essay by Arthur Loomis on "Governors I have known" dealing with
Michigan politics. There are also a three-page handwritten description of the diaries and the
family, four pages of manuscript maps and diagrams showing the location and layout of the farm,
a list of "Family and friends and relatives," and a 35 page index, mostly of personal names. Box
