"Using Loving Support© to Build a Breastfeeding Friendly Community "
In 2002 and 2003, FNS provided training and technical support to help selected States develop comprehensive community-based breastfeeding programs. The goal of  Using Loving Support© to Build Breastfeeding Friendly Community is to raise public awareness, acceptance and support of breastfeeding using social marketing principles.

Each WIC State agency worked with numerous community partners to develop strategies to address State-specific barriers. Each State agency developed an Implementation Plan that addressed the following components of a comprehensive social marketing plan: Mobilizing Staff, Client and Family Education; Public Awareness; Health Providers Outreach; and Community Partnership building.

A summary of Loving Support© Implemention plans is available for each of the States awarded the 2002 [PDF] or 2003 [PDF] grants.
