Guidelines for Childhood Obesity Prevention Programs: Promoting Healthy Weight in Children
bullet In English [PDF]
bullet In Spanish [PDF]

These guidelines, developed by the Weight Realities Division of the Society for Nutrition Education (SNE) went through a two-year process, encourage a health-centered approach, versus the traditional weight-centered model. They emphasize healthy eating and physical activity for all children in a nurturing environment, and explain how to deal with the interrelatedness of weight and eating problems in comprehensive ways that do no harm.

Permission is granted for you to copy and distribute these Guidelines, provided the proper credit is given (as cited at end of paper). The Guidelines were published in the 2003 Jan/Feb issue of SNE's Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior (vol 35, p1-4). They are available from SNE (www.sne.org), and Healthy Weight Network along with related information (www.healthyweight.net).
