Students in the Agriculture and Food Systems major can "tailor their course work to their specific interests" to focus their area of study on sustainable or organic agriculture, agricultural policy and entrepreneurship, alternative energy, community supported agriculture or related subjects.
The Snyder Research and Extension Farm is the Rutgers University Center for Sustainable Agriculture. The Snyder Farm offers land [including certified organic], research and other services to Rutgers faculty studying sustainable agricultural production techniques.
The five-acre Student Sustainable Farm has been expanding to focus more on organic production and community involvement. The farm provides students with summer internships, hands-on experience in the production and management of a small organic farm, and experience in landscape architecture and environmental planning.
