Farmland Access Legal Toolkit

The Farmland Access Legal Toolkitis a free, web-based resource designed to provide legal tools to new farmers looking to access land and retiring farmers ready to transfer land to a new generation. The Toolkit includes farmer case studies to help readers understand how different strategies like conservation easements, collaborative farming, and LLCs are used in practice, as well as mechanisms for land transfer, innovative methods to access land, and leasing resources. Farmers and landowners and those who advocate for them can use these tools and ideas to make land access more affordable and stable.

The guide was created by the Vermont Law School's Center for Agriculture and Food Systems in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Library.
