USDA Graduate School Records

For this back to school season, we present you with Selections from the USDA Graduate School Records.

The Graduate School of the U.S. Department of Agriculture was established in 1921 by the Secretary of Agriculture to stimulate and encourage post-entry education and to offer opportunities for the education and training of employees.  The department was primarily concerned with providing further educational opportunities for its younger scientists.  The school did not grant degrees and not all of its work was at the graduate level.  Furthermore, the curriculum was planned to offer specific courses not usually given by colleges and universities for a given type of government work.  There was a cooperative agreement between the school and the University of Maryland in which the resources of each institution were made available to students.

After severing ties with the USDA in 2009, the school rebranded itself as Graduate School USA.
