Marshall published Arbustum with the assistance of Samuel Vaughan, an English planter from Jamaica who settled in Philadelphia, and was a friend of Benjamin Franklin. The spelling "Arbustrum" is a misprint. "Arbustum" is Latin, meaning a place where trees are planted, a grove, orchard, or plantation; there is no such word in Latin as "arbustrum."
