Objective
The goals for the project are to: 1) establish a satellite lab in Caesar Rodney High School to expose teachers and students to hands-on experiences in Food Safety and Biotechnology, 2) develop a workshop for high school and community college teachers in which they can learn the latest molecular genomics techniques, including next generation sequencing (NGS) and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) through practical training, 3) offer curriculum development assistance to teachers that attend the training sessions so they can incorporate their acquired knowledge into their course, and 4) offer networking and mentorship opportunities with other local area teachers and private sector professionals.Objective 1) Establishment of a satellite lab and development of a food safety workshop in Caesar Rodney High School.Objective 2) Implementation of teacher proficiencies into classes.Objective 3) Initiation of networks and mentorship with external professionals.Objective 4) Development of a food genomic workshop for professional development.
