Objective
The major goals of this project are to understand the fate and transport processes of heavy metals in agroecosystems and quantify heavy metal losses inleachate in different particle size fractions from fields fertilized with animal waste.Specific project objectives are to: (1) quantify soil macropore characteristics in a row crop and a pasture field, (2) determine the effect of soil and water characteristics on heavy metal losses; and (3) simulate heavy metal losses in leachate using HYDRUS-1D model.
