  5. Dramatic fluorescence enhancement of PCN-224 and its application in “turn off” immunoassay for sensitive detection of E. coli O157:H7 in milk

    • In this study, a type of luminescent porous coordination network-224 (PCN-224) in alkaline conditions was synthesized with the dramatic fluorescence enhancement by 20.4 times, which was explained by the fact that the decrease of Zr4+ content in alkaline conditions resulted in the partial recovery of the electron cloud density of 4,4′,4′′,4′′′-(Porphine-5,10,15,20-tetrayl) tetrakis(benzoic acid) (TCPP).

  6. Method development of multi pesticide residue analysis in country beans collected from Dhaka, Bangladesh, and their dietary risk assessment

    • The aim of the study was to develop a modified QuEChERS method coupled with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for the simultaneous determination of five multi-class pesticides in country beans collected from Dhaka, Bangladesh. Pesticides were extracted using ACN, and to minimize the co-extraction matrix, optimized d-SPE cleanup was done using sorbents (GCB, PSA, and C18).

  7. A novel metal–organic framework based electrochemical immunosensor for the rapid detection of Salmonella typhimurium detection in milk

    • Salmonella is one of the most prevalent pathogens causing foodborne diseases. In this study, a novel electrochemical immunosensor was designed for the rapid and accurate detection of Salmonella typhimurium (S. typhimurium) in milk. Platinum nanoparticles and Co/Zn-metal–organic framework @carboxylic multiwalled carbon nanotubes in the immunosensor acted synergistically to enhance the sensing sensitivity and stability.

  8. Methyl jasmonate-loaded composite biofilm sustainably alleviates chilling lignification of loquat fruit during postharvest storage

    • In this work, the MeJA-loaded gelatin/pullulan/chitosan composite biofilm was prepared to inhibit the chilling lignification of the loquat fruit during storage at 0 °C. The firmness and lignin content were decreased by 89 % and 81.77 % after MeJA-loaded biofilm treatment. Malondialdehyde (MDA) production was almost completely suppressed and chilling injury of loquat fruit was significantly reduced.

Simultaneous speciation analysis of tin and lead is challenging for a large food capacity containing unstable species. Herein, we developed two sensitive methods for rapid quantification of tin and lead species in Antarctic seafood by high-performance liquid chromatography and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry based on strong cation-exchange and Amphion columns.

  10. Cross-sectional, commercial testing, and chromatographic study of the occurrence of antibiotic residues throughout an artisanal raw milk cheese production chain

    • This study investigated antibiotic utilization in artisanal dairies and residue occurrence throughout the raw milk cheese production chain using commercial testing (Charm KIS and Eclipse Farm3G) and UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS and LC-QqQ-MS/MS. The cross-sectional survey results revealed gaps in the producers’ knowledge of antibiotic use.

In this study, ozone microbubble treatment was performed on three fruits (strawberry, cherry, and apricot) to remove four pesticide residues (emamectin benzoate, azoxystrobin, boscalid, and difenoconazole) while comparing removal efficiency.

    • Herein, a novel electrochemical sensing platform is designed for the simultaneous detection of Cd2+ and Pb2+, using MXene@rGO composite aerogel-doped UiO-66-NH2. The MXene@rGO composite aerogel not only serves as the support structure for UiO-66-NH2, but also improves the conductivity of the composite by accelerating the electron transport in the matrix.

    • A dual-mode sensing platform for Pb2+ was constructed based on the dual optical channels of Au NPs system with the amplification of DNAzyme, and it was successfully applied for Pb2+ determination in preserved egg with satisfactory results. The presence of Pb2+ activated the DNAzyme and induced the dispersion change of Au NPs in high salt concentration.

First, an extensible in-house PSTs compound database was developed.

  18. Develop an external standard method for high-flux determination of veterinary drug residues liquid milk without solid phase extraction

In this study, a novel elastic matrix adsorbent based on a reduced graphene oxide-coated melamine sponge was prepared and applied in matrix purification for the simultaneous determination of 52 veterinary drugs in mutton by UPLC–MS/MS. Efficient and convenient matrix removal was achieved through simple soaking and squeezing.

    • A novel dual-signal fluorescent sensor was developed for detecting organophosphorus pesticides (OPs). It relies on the catalytic activities of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and choline oxidase (ChOx) to generate hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) through the conversion of acetylcholine (ACh) to choline·H2O2 then oxidizes ferrocene-modified tetraphenylethylene (TPE-Fc) to its oxidized state (TPE-Fc+), resulting in enhanced cyan fluorescence due to aggregation.
