    • Analytical methods based on QuEChERS and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry were developed for the determination of 42 polar and semi-polar pesticides in three representative vegetable matrices, viz. corn, grapes and alfalfa. A 26-2 fractional factorial experimental design was used to cost-effectively optimize the extraction procedure. The optimal analytical approaches were validated in terms of linearity, sensitivity, trueness, and precision.

In this research, the MEs of 28 pesticides and their metabolites in five types of herbs representing different medicinal parts were evaluated by UHPLC-MS/MS analysis after QuEChERs pretreatment.

  4. Accelerated removal of five pesticide residues in three vegetables with ozone microbubbles

    • A simple and effective approach to remove pesticide residues on vegetables is necessary for food safety. Ozone microbubbles treatment as an eco-friendly washing technique was investigated for three vegetables (celery, pakchoi and cowpea) collected from the field applied with five pesticides. The removal rates of five pesticide residues on cowpea by ozone microbubbles treatment were 15 %–47 % higher than that by ozone macrobubbles.

  6. Optimization of the QuEChERS method for multi-residue analysis of pharmaceuticals and pesticides in aquaculture products

    • The aim of study was to optimize an QuEChERS extraction procedure for simultaneous determination of organic pollutants in aquaculture products. The QuEChERS extracts were measured using LC-HRMS. The target contaminants include 32 pesticides and 20 pharmaceuticals which have not been regulated for the products in Korea. The method was validated according to CODEX guideline (CAC/GL 71–2009). LOD and LOQ for all analytes ranged from 0.1 to 2 μg/kg and from 0.5 to 5 μg/kg, respectively.

  11. Simultaneous determination of pesticide residues in pomegranate whole fruit and arils using LC-MS/MS

    • An analytical method in pomegranate whole fruits and arils was developed in LC-MS/MS and validated as per SANTE/12682/2019. Samples were extracted following acetonitrile-based modified QuEChERS protocol. The method was linear and the coefficient of determination ranged between 0.998 to 0.999. Through this method, all the pesticides were detected and quantified at 10 µg kg-1.

    • In this work, a sensitive and cost-effective method for the quantitative analysis of azole pesticides residues in six medicinal plants was established based on magnetic cyclodextrin crosslinked with tetrafluoroterephthalonitrile (Fe3O4@TFN-CDPs) coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Through characterization analysis, the outer shell of Fe3O4@TFN-CDPs has observed coating with a network of the polymer and forming a core–shell structure.

    • In the present study, QuEChERS method was optimized and validated for determination of 260 pesticides by liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS). The method had a suitable linearity (R2 ≥ 0.99). Limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were ranged from 0.56 to 2.99 µg kg−1 and 1.88 to 9.99 µg kg−1 respectively. Average recoveries varied from 71.14% to 118.83%.
