Single and multiple application treatment regimens with minimum and maximum seasonal applications were tested for their effects on residue levels at harvest.     • A colorimetric assay based on an enzyme-inhibition strategy is promising for the on-site detection of pesticide residues. Due to the high cost and low stability of enzymes, nanozymes (nanomaterials with enzyme-like activities) are widely developed as substitutes of enzymes. However, the inhibition of pesticides toward enzymes and nanozymes generally lacks selectivity. It is of great significance and challenge to design a specific pesticide assay based on an activity-inhibition strategy.

    • The residue levels and risk assessment of imidacloprid (IMI) and chlorantraniliprole (CAP) in celery grown under open field and greenhouse cultivation were investigated. Both pesticides were used through foliar application and soil drench application at the recommended dose (RD) and 10-fold recommended dose (10xRD).

Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop and validate a QuEChERS-based method for the estimation of 104 pesticides in cumin seed. Samples were spiked for 109 pesticides at concentrations of 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 mg kg−1. Of these 104 pesticides were recovered.

  8. Rapid determination and dietary intake risk assessment of 249 pesticide residues in Panax notoginseng

    • UPLC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS were used to establish a method to simultaneously determine various pesticide residues in Panax notoginseng. Results showed that the limits of detection of 249 pesticides were all 5–10 μg/kg. The detection rate of pesticides in 121 P. notoginseng samples was 93.39%, and 19 pesticides were detected.

  9. Method validation, residue and risk assessment of 260 pesticides in some leafy vegetables using liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry

    • In the present study, QuEChERS method was optimized and validated for determination of 260 pesticides by liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS). The method had a suitable linearity (R2 ≥ 0.99). Limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were ranged from 0.56 to 2.99 µg kg−1 and 1.88 to 9.99 µg kg−1 respectively. Average recoveries varied from 71.14% to 118.83%.

  10. Determination of Synthetic Pyrethroids and Hexaconazole Residues in curry leaves and decontamination through household techniques

    • Microbial bioremediation is a very potent and eco-friendly approach to alleviate pesticide pollution in agricultural ecosystems, and hydrolase is an effective element for contaminant degradation. In the present study, a novel Mn2+-dependent esterase, PchA, that efficiently hydrolyzes carbamate pesticides with aromatic structures was identified from Pseudomonas sp. PS21. The hydrolytic activity was confirmed to be related closely to the core catalytic domain, which consists of six residues.

  18. Method Development and Validation of Seven Pyrethroid Insecticides in Tea and Vegetable by Modified QuEChERS and HPLC–MS/MS

The overall average recoveries of the seven pyrethroids were 72%–104% (relative standard deviation (RSD); 2.0%–16.1%, 89%–109% (RSD; 0.7%–17.3%), 82%–110% (RSD; 1.6%–17.1%) for tea, cucumber and tomato, respectively.
