Students in the Agriculture and Food Systems major can "tailor their course work to their specific interests" to focus their area of study on sustainable or organic agriculture, agricultural policy and entrepreneurship, alternative energy, community supported agriculture or other interests.
The 14-acre certified organic farm, located on the Clemson University campus, "serves as a resource for training and education in sustainable and organic agriculture" and "offers research opportunities for undergraduate/graduate students, and also provides students of any discipline with hands-on experience in organic production systems."
The College's 50-acre, USDA-certified organic farm is available to students and faculty for indepenent research projects, labs and onsite courses. "Students learn about renewable energy and sustainable agriculture through workshops and volunteer opportunities." Crops are earmarked for the campus Dining Hall and the farm's Campus Supported Agriculture program. Youth programs include "Farm, Cook, Eat, Sustainable Earth Education (SEED)" courses and workshops.
The Center has on-campus demonstration sites for production and growing techniques, a certified organic production area, and seven high tunnels. The Center assists "small to mid-size farmers and gardeners produce organic and specialty vegetables for sale."
"Fulton Farm is an environmental educational facility and working produce farm." Located on the Fulton Center for Sustainability Studies, the farm is USDA Certified Organic and produces crops for the campus and the community. The farm is available to students for coursework, internships, workstudy and volunteer opportunities. Courses offered include agroecology and permaculture. Fulton Farm hosts a "community market share program," and provides workshops, demonstrations, classes and other events for community.
Students can explore organic and sustainable agriculture, agroecology and environmental sciences at the 25-acre Evergreen State College's Organic Farm. The Organic Farm's Sustainable Agriculture Lab is a hands-on training facility. The farm includes a food-grade laboratory, the student-designed and built Organic Farmhouse, and the student-run Demeter's permaculture demonstration site and Community Gardens. A Community Supported Agriculture program and community-based activities also are available.
The 80-acre Hampshire College Farm Center is a "working farm, as well as a research, education, and outreach facility dedicated to sustainable agriculture." Operates an organic Community Supported Agriculture program.
The Organic Farming Research and Education Unit (OFREU), a 20-acre USDA-certified organic farm and research facility, is available for organic vegetable production, the student community supported agriculture program, Sustainable Agriculture Program (SAG) student apprenticeships, teaching resources and courses for the SAG curriculum, and faculty and student research in sustainable organic horticultural production systems. OFREU also serves as a venue for labs and hands-on learning.
The Howdy Farm provides Texas A&M students with "hands on experience in interdisciplinary sustainable agriculture," "facilitate[s] sustainability research for the state of Texas," and "promote[s] organic, sustainable, and environmentally-responsible farming methods."
Iowa State University undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and community members manage the 2-acre Good Earth organic farm and Community Supported Agriculture program.
The certified organic 5.8 acre Indian Valley Organic Farm and Garden, managed through a partnership with Cultural Conservancy and University of California Cooperative Extension, "was created to support and sustain local food systems and organic agriculture," to teach Marin County residents about local agriculture, and "to provide fresh and healthy food for local residents." Students use the farm for research, coursework, and to meet degree program requirements.
Oxford College's 11-acre Organic Farm, established in 2014, provides student hands-on experience and educational opportunities. Produce is served in the dining halls, sold at the Emory University farmers market, and sold to local community members through a CSA.
The farm "is a 15-acre, certified organic year-round teaching and production farm." Its markets include a year-round CSA, an on-campus farm stand, and sales to campus dining halls. Programs include the Organic Farmer Training Program, collaboration with the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Specialization, undergraduate coursework and research, experiential educational opportunities, and Outreach and Extension programs.
The 365-acre Shone Farm provides hands-on experience to students in the Sustainable Agriculture and Animal Science Programs. Students produce and sell grass-fed beef, direct market value-added products, and operate a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
The Soil Stewards Student Farm operates a 3-acre organic farm and research site at the University of Idaho and runs a local CSA.
The Richard Alsina Fulton Center for Sustainability Studies facilitates practical training and research and is used to demonstrate sustainable methods of soil improvement, weed and pest control, cover and biointensive cropping, rotation, use of compost and green manures, and alternative fuel research. The Center includes the Fulton Farm, a USDA-certified 50-acre farmstead, passive-solar greenhouses, solar and wind-generated electricity demonstrations, and a Community Supported Agriculture program. Previously called the Fulton Center for Sustainable Living.
Rogers Farm serves as the University's organic and sustainable agriculture research facility and is used for "a wide range of teaching, research and outreach activities." The University operates its student-run community-supported agriculture program on the farm.
The Student Sustainable Farm is an "outdoor classroom for specialized, interdisciplinary coursework, providing unique opportunities, hands-on experience, and research opportunities for students." Additionally, the farm focuses on organic production and community involvement, provides summer internships, offers an 8-week summer course on organic farming, and runs a CSA program.
The Purdue University Student Farm offers students experiential learning opportunities, serves as a site for undergraduate research on sustainable agriculture, and offers courses to students who participate in the farm's operation.

The Eggert Family Organic Farm, a 30-acre certified organic farm near the Pullman, WA campus, is operated through the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences. The farm is used for teaching and Extension, and for the WSU scientific community to conduct organic research projects. Students in the Practicum in Organic Agriculture class operate the farm and gain hands-on training in organic production and certification, and in local food marketing.
The Student Organic Farm is USDA certified, provides instruction to students on organic and sustainable food systems, and operates a Community Supported Agriculture program.
The 20-acre UMass Student Farm produces USDA-certified organic produce and serves a 125-member CSA on the UMASS Research and Education Farm in South Deerfield and the Agricultural Learning Center near Amherst.
