The Agriculture, Food and Environment (AFE) program within the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy "fuses the disciplines of nutrition, agricultural science, environmental studies, and public policy." Research opportunities are offered in sustainable agriculture, local food systems, and consumer behavior related to food and the environment.

A partnership of the University of Idaho Extension, Washington State University Food Systems Program, and Rural Roots. The Washington State University program offers three courses with the goal of "provid[ing] beginning and existing farmers with the planning and decision-making tools, production skills, and support necessary to develop a sustainable farm or food business."
"Land in the Organic Research Unit is available to all researchers at North Carolina State University and North Carolina A&T State University to conduct short-term research projects." "CEFS faculty, in their work to support sustainable agriculture and local food systems, conduct research and provide demonstrations of organic production practices at the Organic Research Unit, the Small Farm Unit, and the long-term Farming Systems Research Unit. One hundred and six acres of the 2,000-acre research station are currently certified organic." Offers a Sustainable Agriculture Research Apprenticeship Program and internships.

This interdisciplinary program "combines a diverse academic curriculum with practical experiences at the Hampshire College Farm Center, an organic working farm, and workshops with visiting writers, artists, and scholars." Coursework covers seed saving, urban agriculture, pesticide alternatives, local food production and other aspects of organic or sustainable agriculture. Internships and apprenticeships are available.
This 6-unit certificate provides "skills needed to work in urban farming" and offers hands-on experience at the college's 1-acre urban farm.
The Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Club provides "education through advocating alternative agricultural practices and methods, demonstrating fundamentals of agroecosystems and sustainable food systems to foster the awareness of social and environmental concerns to the University of Florida students and the local community."
This interdisciplinary certificate provides an overview of the concepts and issues of the local food movement.
Seeds@City Urban Farm, a hands-on training in sustainable, organic, local and community agriculture, is the outdoor laboratory for the San Diego City College sustainable agriculture program.
