Cornell University manages research farms, orchards, greenhouses, and other facilities dedicated to sustainable agriculture and to organic research. Research programs focus on: organic vegetable production; weed and crop management, organic production systems and breeding and variety testing; organic grain trials; pest management; vegetable pest and crop management systems; organic greenhouse production; organic grape production; and organic apple production.

The Hispanic orchard employee education program (HOEEP) "offers seven 19-credit programs: basic and advanced horticulture, integrated pest management technician, farm management, introduction to viticulture and advanced viticulture, and vineyard management."
The 365-acre Shone Farm provides hands-on experience to students in the Sustainable Agriculture and Animal Science Programs. Students produce and sell grass-fed beef, direct market value-added products, and operate a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
