After meeting with urban agriculture groups during the summer of 2022, MFBF staff identified a unique opportunity for the organization to work alongside those groups to support them in providing safe, nutritious foods to their communities. And as the diversity of the Twin Cities metro area continues to grow, so will the needs to feed those members. Through the grant, MFBF hopes to identify the issues most critical to the success of those urban agriculture groups serving diverse communities every day, and connect them to the resources they need to thrive. We also hope to build long-lasting relationships between urban agriculture groups, MFBF, local elected officials and other agriculture organizations for lasting success, continued knowledge sharing, and bridging gaps between rural and urban agriculture to support the success of both worlds for generations to come.
