The primary goal of this project is to reduce the environmental damagecaused by the landfilling of compostable food waste.The project will reach this goal by completing the following objectives:Create a comprehensive composting service open to the public that can divert food waste from landfills;Generate finished compost available to the public;Increase the local application of compost;Decrease the input cost of fertilizers for farmers;Decrease social costs of environmental destruction caused by landfilling food waste, including the opportunity cost of not composting;Increase general markers of ecosystem health such as soil rainwater absorption caps and rates, soil organic matter, and soil nutrient content, among others;Reduce the source of food waste by piloting education and awareness campaigns through internal efforts and partnerships with relevant local entities;Divert residential and commercial food waste from landfills;Encourage waste management and permaculture business development through stakeholder forums;?
