1) To develop methods for extraction, cleanup, and analysis of non-volatile N-nitrosaminesin cosmetics and meat products using combined liquid chromatography (LC) detection methods with confirmation by compatible mass spectrometry (MS) ionization methods. 2) To investigate the applicability of Liquid Chromatography-electron spray ionization/mass sprectroscopy (LC-ESI/MS) and/or (LC-APCI/MS) as a multi-residue, trace-level, quantitative technique for analysis of volatile, semi-volatile, and non-volatile N-nitrosamines in these consumer products.
FY 2000 Accomplishments: 1) The results of this project have been reported at the 48th American Society of Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) conference. 2) The manuscript has been submitted for publication.
