Development of Real-Time Biosensors for Food Pathogens and Toxins, Specifically E. Coli O157:H7 and Staphylococcal Enterotoxins

Objective

The proposed work is a joint effort to develop an alternative real-time biosensors for food pathogens and toxins, specifically E. coli O157:H7 and staphylococcal enterotoxins (including SEA and SEB). A time-resolved fluorescence resonance energy transfer (TR-FRET) biosensor technology developed by CBX (patent pending) will be utilized and developed for the analysis of the pathogens and toxins.

More information

Approach:
An active partnership with CBX to develop a time-resolve fluorescence-energy transfer assay for SEA and/or SEB and E. coli O157:H7. ERRC has access to CBX intellectual property for research purposes. CBX provides ARS, ERRC with a ready commercialization partner should a commercializable sensor be developed.
