A) The overall objective of this project is to make available, through breeding and testing, winter wheat cultivars and germplasm having desirable agronomic characteristics, environmental stress tolerance, agronomic adaptation, pest (disease and insect) resistance, and end-use quality characteristics. A primary goal related to this activity is to make information on these and other varieties available to producers and the industry through field days, producer meetings, publications with variety trial results, and on-line through the internet (http://www.ramwheatdb.com).B) The secondary objective of this project is to conduct basic and collaborative research studies focused on mitigating constraints for effective production and marketing of wheat produced in Colorado. A primary goal of this activity is to lead in the training of graduate students in modern plant breeding techniques and make research from this activity available to the wider scientific community through the scientific literature.
