DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES AND US FOOD SECURITY: INTERDISCIPLINARY TRAINING OF GRADUATE FELLOWS TO BE FOOD SYSTEM LEADERS

Goal 1. To train graduate students to be exceptional scholarsObjectivesTo recruit a cohort of new students who show potential to excel in agricultural and food systems researchTo develop new research skills and knowledge among each studentTo provide opportunities for each student to conduct and publish rigorous, novel researchGoal 2. To train graduate students to be future leaders in food systems: as researchers, decision-makers, educators, and/or business leadersObjectivesTo provide teaching training to each studentTo provide professional skills training, including leadership training, to each studentTo provide experiential learning opportunities to each student, including an international experience and a summer fellowship with partners outside of the universityGoal 3. To produce research that contributes to an improved understanding of the role of emerging technologies in enhancing food security in the USObjectivesTo publish rigorous scientific research papers in peer-reviewed journalsTo develop meaningful collaborations with food-system partners outside of the universityTo disseminate the results and conclusions of this research to researchers and practitioners, through a variety of media and outlets
