The long-term goal of this project is to expand our capacity to train underrepresented students in the Food and Nutrition Science program at Florida State University (FSU) through enhancement of research capabilities as well as through collaboration with two 1890 Historically Black Land Grant Universities (Florida A&M University (FAMU) and Virginia State University (VSU)). Three supporting objectives of this project are to (1) expand the capacity of FSU to provide education, research, and leadership skills training of underrepresented students in food and nutrition; (2) establish a partnership with FAMU and VSU through integrated research and education; and (3) address two national priority concerns (food safety and food systems sustainability).
