GENOME ASSEMBLY AND FUNCTIONAL ANNOTATION THE RAINBOW TROUT FISH

Objective

1) Improving the reference genome assembly by using the long- and short-read sequencing, in combination with a whole-genome optical map and HiRise map of chromatin interactions.2) Annotate the reference genome for the coding and non-coding transcript-isoforms and alternative splicing, by full-length single-molecule sequencing.3) Annotate the genome for chromatin histone-modifications, methylation, and chromatin accessibility across various tissues. The improved genome assembly and annotation will accelerate genetic and genomic analyses for improving important aquaculture production traits in rainbow trout and other closely-related salmonid species.
