The objective of this project is to develop a jurisdictional scan in order to provide OMAFRA and the meat/poultry industry with a thorough understanding of modern approaches, advancements, innovations, and developments that are currently being used in the meat and poultry processing sector globally. The jurisdictional scan will include: 1. An overview and inventory of modern approaches (for example, outcomes based approaches; rewarding good actors; evidence and data driven decision making; use of modern and innovative technologies) to meat and poultry inspection during slaughter and further processing; 2. An overview of authorities and responsibilities of meat inspection jurisdictions; and 3. An evaluation of innovative and modern meat inspection related technologies including how these novel technologies can fit within national and provincial regulatory schemes.
