The aim of this work is to identify the cell subsets that contribute to IFNg-dependent immunity to Salmonella typhimurium infection during primary and subsequent rechallenge infections. There are three main objectives addressed by this proposal.

Determination of the anti- Salmonella mechanism(s) mediated by natural killer (NK) cells
The minimal requirement for T cell subsets and the IFNg- mediated anti-Salmonella response
The interaction between different T cell subsets and the IFNg-mediated anti- Salmonella response.
