Improved Aflatoxin Management in Corn With Afla-Guard and the Effects of Late Season Fungicides and Afla-Guard on Aflatoxin Contamination.

Objective

Evaluate strobulurins, triazoles, and traditional fungicides and cominations of fungicides for their activity against Aspergillus (A.) flavus and their effect on aflatoxin production.

Determine optimum rate and time of application of Alfla-Guard.

Fungicide and Afla-Guard interactions.

More information

Evaluate the efficacy of Afla-Guard at five Mississippi Delta field sites, where most Mississippi corn is grown, at three application rates and three application times, on sid-by-side irrigated and non-irrigated corn. In laboratory and field trials the effect of fungicides on Aspergillus (A.) flavus will be measures. Determine the effects of the application of late season foliar fungicides on aflatoxin, Afla-Guard efficacy and/or control of other late season foiar diseases. NOTE: All trials will be carried toyield and concentrations of aflatoxin will be determined from each plot. In addition, laboratory isolations will be made to determine the raio of toxigenic and non-toxigenic A. flavus present from each plot and the potential interaction with fungicide products.
