MOVING DANE COUNTY TOWARDS CIRCULARITY: ESTABLISHING COMMUNITY FOOD SCRAPS COLLECTION KIOSKS & FULL-TIME ORGANICS BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & OUTREACH (OBDO) ROLE

The goal of this project is to expand access to food waste recycling opportunities in numerous communities across Dane County. The objectives of this project will be the construction of food waste collection drop off kiosks across Dane County, in collaboration with different host partners and coordination of hauling to Dane County's organics recycling facility. In addition, a full-time position or equivalent will be created within the County that will be responsible for both launching this drop off program, developing educational and marketing materials, coordinating outreach and technical assistance to Dane County businesses and organizations for implementing their own food waste diversion programs, and developing a program that is fiscally sustainable beyond the life of the grant.
