National Epidemiologic and Intervention... Salmonella & Campylobacter to Processed Carcasses

Objective

Nationally determine the critical sources and transmission of Campylobacter and Salmonella through poultry production to processed broiler carcasses,

More information

Analyze 24,000 samples (12,000 ea Salmonella and Campylobacter) from 5 geographically distinct locations, over four seasons, having high and low production efficiency, providing information on the critical sources of contamination in broiler carcasses. Use this information to develop intervention strategies which, when combined with hatchery disinfection and application of competitive exclusion treatments will control levels/frequencies of these human pathogens. Trust agreement with FSIS.
