Plant-Derived Antimicrobial Activities for Use in Animal Feed (ERDF KEF)

<ul> <LI> Set up a functional hydroponics facility using test plants for inclusion in antimicrobial screens. Provide hydroponically produced material for antimicrobial screens. <LI> Provide research support to optimise hydroponic production of active components in target plants from antimicrobial screens.<LI> Refine extraction methodologies for hydroponically produced material with suitable starting protocols provided by collaborators. <LI> Conduct animal trial on up to 3 compounds identified from screens and provided by the consortium. The compounds will be tested in steers for their ability to reduce load of surrogate pathogens E. Coli and Listeria.
