PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN ASSESSING THE FOOD SAFETY USING THE CHEMICALLY ACTIVATED LUCIFERASE GENE EXPRESSION (CALUX) BIOASSAY

Objective

The targeted outcome of this project will be to develop the CALUX bioassay capability at PVMAU, establishing a facility that will be used for PI's research on food safety. The objectives of this professional development project are: (i) learn cell culture work (preparation, storage, splitting), (ii) practice experimentation with CALUX assay, and (iii) setup the experimental station at PVAMU to perform toxic assessment experiments of locally grown and harvested food samples.
