Source Attribution of Antibiotic Resistant Salmonella in Cattle Processing Plants

Objective

Determine whether fed beef cattle, cull dairy cows, or cull beef cows are the primary source of antibiotic resistant Salmonella present in processing plants and determine the potential of lymphnodes from fed beef and cull cows to contaminate ground beef with Salmonella.

Approach: This will be completed by collecting samples and lymphnodes from the appropriate cattle sources and evaluating samples for Salmonella and MDR Salmonella.
