Step into opportunities at the National Agricultural Library and use your creativity and innovation to work on projects impacting the future of agriculture. As an intern at the the Library, you'll be part of a team that is dedicated to providing access to information to help solve agricultural challenges like food production, climate change, and natural resources conservation. Are you interested in improving the discovery of information? Or do you have a passion for a special topic area? NAL may be the right place for you.

Eligibility
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Full-time students (high school through graduate school)
  • 16 years of age at the time of application (no exceptions)
  • Undergraduate and graduate students must be enrolled full-time in a degree-granting program at an accredited college or university.
Stipend

Internships are unpaid. Credit hours may be earned by arrangement with your academic institution.

Your cover letter should address:

  • your area of interest;
  • your skills and experience, including how you would benefit the area(s) of specific interest; and
  • your level of availability, including expected hours per week and length of commitment.

Applications are accepted year round.

All interns and volunteers must be fingerprinted on their first day as part of the required Federal Bureau of Investigation National Criminal History Check.

For appointments longer than 90 days, all applicants must also pass a National Agency Check with Inquiry Background Investigation.
