Cornell University manages research farms, orchards, greenhouses, and other facilities dedicated to sustainable agriculture and to organic research. Research programs focus on: organic vegetable production; weed and crop management, organic production systems and breeding and variety testing; organic grain trials; pest management; vegetable pest and crop management systems; organic greenhouse production; organic grape production; and organic apple production.
The Snyder Research and Extension Farm is the Rutgers University Center for Sustainable Agriculture. The Snyder Farm offers land [including certified organic], research and other services to Rutgers faculty studying sustainable agricultural production techniques.

The Bowdoin Organic Garden supplies vegetables and fruits to the College's Dining Service, and it provides research opportunities for faculty and agricultural experiences for the college community. The Garden is certified organic and has acquired new land that will be available for academic research and sustainable agricultural practices.

The 90-acre Organic Crops Unit, one of six farming units that make up the East Tennessee Ag Research and Education Center, includes 14 acres certified organic and 7 acres under conventional production. The farms support faculty and graduate student research, with a primary emphasis on sustainable and organic crop production.
Ohio State University organic farming research initiatives and outreach are coordinated through the OFFER program. OFFER's land resources include land on three farms near Wooster and at the John Hirzel Sustainable Agriculture Farming Systems Research Site in northwestern Ohio.

The KSU Research and Demonstration Farm is a 300-acre farm that "offers students opportunities to conduct research and demonstration projects related to sustainable agriculture, livestock production, horticulture, bioenergy and other land-based studies. The farm includes 11 acres of certified organic land." Organic agriculture research at the university campus takes place in the Atwood Research Facility.
Part of the Southern Illinois University Farms system, the Sustainability Center is comprised of the student-run Sustainable Vegetable Farm and Greenhouse, a Vermicomposting Center, and the Paper Recycling Project. The 300-acre Russell Ranch Sustainable Agriculture Facility is "dedicated to investigating irrigated and dry-land agriculture in a Mediterranean climate." The Century Experiment (formerly known as LTRAS - Long Term Research Agricultural Sustainability) is a long-term, 100-year study implemented in 1993 on the main plots of Russell Ranch. The Experiment also includes the former Sustainable Agriculture Farming Systems (SAFS) research project.

Undergraduates and graduates have access to seventy-seven acres of certified organic farm land for research on a range of academic disciplines, including "horiticulture, agronomy, soil science, animal science, soil biology, plant pathology, entomology, weed science, and agricultural economics."
