Four baby foods and one ready-to-feed infant formula sample, comparable to those procured for the surveys for dioxins and PCBs in baby foods (C02035) and in infant formulae were purchased from a local supermarket.<P>
The samples were homogenised, split in two and spiked with the following PAHs: benz[a]anthracene, benzo[b]-, benzo[j]- and benzo[k]fluoranthene, benzo[ghi]perylene, benzo[a]pyrene, chrysene, cyclopenta[cd]pyrene, dibenz[a,h]anthracene, dibenzo[a,e]-, dibenzo[a,h]-, dibenzo[a,i]-, dibenzo[a,l]pyrene, indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene and 5-methylchrysene. One portion of each sample was freeze dried. Both the freezedried and the remaining whole samples were then analysed for the above PAHs.
