Project Summary/AbstractLarge veterinary teaching hospitals are in a unique position to promote the judicious use of antimicrobials, particularly for companion animals. Cats and dogs are a growing concern for harboring multi-drug resistantorganisms. Given the current lack of regulations on antimicrobial usage in companion animals, it is imperativeto teach DVM students how to prescribe treatments appropriately using data from reliable diagnostics. Thisproject will support the development of a formal lab-supported stewardship plan at the highly ranked CornellCollege of Veterinary Medicine in line with the FDA CVM 5 year action plan for supporting antimicrobialstewardship in veterinary settings
