Persistence of Vibrio Vulnificus in Oysters

Objective

A newly described adherence factor expressed by V. vulnificus was identified. Significant progress in its isolation has been made, but further study is needed to determine its role in oyster colonization. Comparison of adherence to oyster cells by afimbriated mutants with that of wild type strains will provide insights on how this microbe persists in oysters.
