Affect of Washing and/or Sanitizing Methods on the Microbial Ecology and Safety of Fresh Fruit and Vegetables

Objective

The objective of this project was to determine the most effective means of treatment to reduce the risk of foodborne illness, and to determine if micro flora commonly found on produce such as apples or lettuce can influence the efficacy of various procedures such as washing and treatment with biocides with respect to the removal of reduction of the risk of food borne illness.
