"Circle of Food Safety for Children, Families, and Communities" will be conducted for preschool through third grade students in East Baton Rouge Parish. A train-the-trainer model which utilizes teachers in classroom settings to impart food safety messages to their students will be used. Teachers will attend four food safety workshops and incorporate 60 minutes of food safety information into their existing health or science curriculum each week. Newsletters and fact sheets will be distributed to parents and other families within the communities. Different methodologies will be used based on the literacy level of the clientele to develop a baseline of knowledge. Follow-ups will be conducted to determine the extent to which knowledge increased.
