Ensuring the Microbiological Safety of Fresh Apples

<p>Arrange for field locations for experiments and data collection and collaborate with ARS scientists in investigation of pre- and postharvest contamination of apples with human pathogens. Evaluate efficacy of promising anti-microbial fruit washes and other interventions in decontaminating apples containing human pathogens in field tests with commercial equipment.Ensure that such interventions are technically and economically feasible for small scale processors. From review of ARS data, identify hazards and critical control points needed as inputs for HACCP plans covering production of fresh apple products.</p>
