Microbiology of Aerial Plant Surfaces

Objective

To support the Seventh International Symposium on the Microbiology of Aerical Plant Surfaces to be held in Berkeley, California from Augus 3-8 2000. This is an interdisciplinary meeting with a common theme of addressing questions that relate to understanding the associations of microorganisms with the plants on which they live. The conference thus will bring unique perspective to important questions in microbial ecology.

More information

The studyof phyllosphere microbiology has justificationsin both practical issues related to crop production and food safety, as well as in advancing fundamental science in the field of microbial ecology. Research on the microbiology of the phyllosphere has many significant implications for successful crop production worldwide. While there are other forums to exchange information on molecular aspects of plant-microbe interactions, on biological control, and even rhizosphere microbiology as a whole is addressed. This symposium is held every five years to foster truly interdisciplinary discussions from a wide range of participants. Documents SCA with UC-Berkeley.
