Food Safety Research Information Office

The Food Safety Research Information Office (FSRIO) supports the research community by collecting, organizing, and disseminating food safety information in accordance with the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of 1998.

We provide research projects and publications relevant to food safety researchers in the Research Projects Database and the Research Publications. We provide, as well as foundational information about a wide array of Food Safety Topics and the Latest Reports and Assessments from credited government and public and private organizations. You can view presentations and videos from food safety researchers in the Meet the Experts section. There is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section available for use that provides resources to the most common food safety queries.

Funding opportunities for food safety research projects are available from the following agencies. Be sure to check back often as new funding opportunities will be listed.

  • On October 26-28th , join the Food Safety Research Information Office (FSRIO) team as we particiapte as a virtual exhibitor at the next International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) 2020 Virtual conference.  You can meet the FSRIO team on Monday, October 26th and Tuesday, October 27th between the hours of 11:30am-1:00pm Eastern and 4:00-5:00pm Eastern.  We will also be online on Wednesday, October 28th between the hours of 12:00-1:00pm Eastern and 4:00-5:00pm Eastern. We hope to see you online!
  • The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has scheduled a 1 hour webinar entitled "New Era of Smarter Food Safety" on October 26, 2020 at 3:00pm Eastern. The webinar is about the first 100 days after its release of the New Era of Smarter Food Safety blueprint. The webinar Deputy Commissioner Frank Yiannas will discuss the new approach the agency is taking with food safety by leveraging technology and other tools to create a safer and a more digital and traceable food system.   • The International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) webinar "Science Connections -- Accessing Tools to Support Your Literature Review" is now available to view online. You can also download the slide presentation.
